Our History
We began trading in April 2004. And although we are quite a young company there are over 35 years of award wining talent behind VBM Productions.
Scott Horsfield is the managing director and founder of VBM. The idea for VBM came about when Scott was working for one of the early pioneers of online communications in investor relations and corporate disclosure, CCBN. He felt that video was massively underused as a means of communications and marketing by organisations. Video was generally only used by FTSE 100 companies and even then only on rare occasions.

What grated Scott the most was that when video was used it was often ineffective. It seemed as though companies were making videos for the sake of it. Generally, the videos looked good and glossy, but the purpose of the video was lost.
Scott felt there was an opportunity to set up a video production company that made great looking videos, but, was oriented by the client’s objectives, be they business or creative, at a reasonable cost. The point being that the production values or the look of the video are a function of the purpose of the video. The result being satisfied clients and audiences.
Thankfully, he has proven his point. VBM is now not only working with major multinationals but many smaller companies, ranging from local businesses through to public bodies and charities. Scott feels passionately that smaller companies should also benefit from the potential video can have for communications and marketing.
Mark Rutherford joined us in November 2005 as a business partner and creative director. Mark’s experience in managing creative projects as an award winning music producer and his experience in video ensures the high standard of quality and creativity is maintained in all VBM’s work.
The combination of Scott’s expertise in communications and marketing and Mark’s talent for managing creative projects is responsible for our success and makes us somewhat unique in the industry.
