Our Services: VHS to DVD conversion/transfer
As a professional video production company, we work with different video formats on a daily basis for companies such as Sony Ericsson, National Express and local government. In our work we have found there are lots of people have old VHS tapes that they aren't able to watch as they no longer have a machine to play them. Or, lots of people would love to get rid of their VHS player but can't, as they still have tapes they want to be able to watch.
The solution is to transfer those tapes to DVD. And, as we found there were few companies offering a reliable, high quality, professional service transferring these tapes, we decided to do it ourselves. After all we have the expertise as we regularly work for LG, Samsung and similar clients, We have the equipment. And, we have the experience to do it properly!
As VHS video signals are not stable we put all our transfers through a little black box that stabilises the video signal so you get a better DVD. We also manually apply filters and settings to each transferred tape to ensure that we get the best possible results. In short, we put your tapes through a professional process designed to create the best possible image quality for you.
Prices
Our standard service includes professional transfer, and on-disc printing in a plastic wallet.
However, as you might well think, as a video production company we are able to personalise the DVD to your requirements. We can 'author' the DVD with a unique menu just like a DVD you buy from a shop. Here we take a still from the video as the background and include chapters to jump to points in the video. We can print images on the actual disc and create an insert to go inside the DVD case. Furthermore, we can convert the video so you can put it on YouTube, your iPod, your mobile phone or on a website.

We know our prices are not the cheapest on the market, but that's because we actually spend time over our transfers and aim to achieve the best quality transfer by manually improving the image quality in post production.
Please call us on 0845 2261336 or email us if you have any pricing queries or want an exact quote based on your requirements.
For payment we accept bank transfers and all major credit cards via Paypal.
Repairs
The most frequent repair is due to a damaged tape case or where the tape itself has been damaged. We can repair both the tape and the case. However, the problem with tape is that it can degrade over time. The audio becomes 'hissy' or the picture loses colour. As we have professional editing equipment we are able to improve both the audio and picture in post production.
If you need repairs its best to get in touch to tell us the issue so we can offer advice. Repairs generally cost £20 per tape, audio and picture enhancement costs £50 per hour of tape.
After you have sent us the tapes and we have inspected them, we will let you know if the tape is worth repairing. If not, we don't make a charge.
Process
1. Post us your tapes via Royal Mail Special or Recorded Delivery and include your contact details (name, telephone number, email and address). Please email us as well so we know to expect your tapes.
Our address is: VBM Productions Ltd, The River, 30-40 Elcho Street, London SW11 4AU.
2. Once we have received the tapes we will inspect them and contact you to find out the details of the order.
3. We will then issue an electronic invoice via Paypal which you can pay for by credit or debit card, bank transfer or through your Paypal balance.
3. Once we have transferred and completed the order we will post the DVDs and tapes to you via Recorded Delivery. Unfortunately it is not possible to recycle VHS tapes, however, if you wish we can securely dispose of them for you.
4. We keep a digital back-up of your DVD for 6 weeks after every job so there is no chance of losing your footage in transit. Once we have heard from you that you have safely received the discs and all is well we will erase the back-up copy.
If at any time you would like to speak to someone about your order, or even for reassurance that we will treat your tapes with love and care, please contact us on 0845 226 1 336.
Turnaround Time
From delivery of tapes we usually expect to complete the transfer between 48 and 72 hours. This is for between 1 and three tapes of typical length. For more tapes, we need longer. The reason our turnaround time is so long is because our process is more manual than most. This is the only way to ensure our work is of high quality. It will be worth the wait!
The Transfer
We use only professional equipment which is regularly serviced and maintained. Furthermore, we use the best quality DVDs available. Not all DVD discs are created equal. The cheaper ones have an inferior dye which will not last. The DVDs we use are proven to be the longest lasting available.
As professionals we understand the importance of your footage. The reason you are bothering to transfer it is because it is so special to you. Please be careful who you trust to transfer your tapes.
