June 2007: VBM Selected for Digital Horizons Scheme.

VBM Productions has been selected to participate in the Digital Horizons Scheme. VBM was selected from many applicants to join this new scheme aimed at selecting and guiding the digital companies of the future.

'Digital Horizons directly addresses the technical, professional and commercial skills needed to compete effectively in the digital environment in order to sustain competitive advantage. Opportunities arise for cross-industry collaboration and for the generation of competitive advantage, for example by exploring film and televisual techniques around photo-realism, episodic editing, action sequence rendering and post process effects editing.

Similarly, for example, the film industry is poised for massive change in product distribution and channels to market as it moves to same day opening of films globally and online distribution through second-generation broadband technologies.

A highly focused industry led course developed for companies and freelancers in the South East Area (seeda.co.uk for details) by South East Media Network, Skillset, Screen South and Wired Sussex supported by the South East England Development Agency.'

Gina Fegan, Chief Executive, South East Media Network.

This scheme offers anyone with 'chutzpah' the chance to learn the necessary skills, and make all the right contacts, to win out in the brave new world driven by 'user generated' content.

Jo Cassey, South East Regional Manager, Skillset

Digital Horizons is designed to help both freelancers and SMEs to raise productivity by increasing product development and collaborative skills across a number of platforms. This exciting, innovative scheme will provide a high level of company support currently missing in the South East region, and aims to facilitate focused business support which supports the strategic aims of Skillset’s Sector Skills Agreement.

Tara Solesbury, Director of Projects, Wired Sussex

Delivering Digital Horizons allows us to demonstrate cross platform opportunities to companies that are already leading the pack. It’ll be great to deliver training and watch them grow, these companies are going to be the ones to watch.

Jo Nolan, CEO, Screen South

The Digital Horizons programme is a fantastic opportunity for our regional production companies to collaborate with the wider digital sector and to really be at the cutting edge of creative development while maximizing new sales and distribution models on international playing field.
